Ski lifts in the Grand Massif are currently not expected to run until January 2021.  With a delayed start to winter following recent restrictions imposed by the French government on ski lift operations, the opening of French ski resorts is eagerly awaited by the alpine community as a whole.

The most recent announcement states that ski lifts in French resorts will be allowed to operate as of January 7th 2021, on the condition that Covid-19 transmission rates continue to decline sufficiently nationwide.

In the meantime, there are plenty of alpine activities to enjoy!  ZigZag is pleased to announce we’ll be offering the following activities during the resort closure period :

SKI TOURING / SPLITBOARDING TUITION & GUIDANCE

Initiation session – 2.5 hours – first timer level

Development session – 4 hours – early intermediate level

Exploration session – full day – intermediate & advanced levels

– Ski touring tuition and guidance is offered by ZigZag’s fully certified and highly experienced English speaking Instructors and High Mountain Guides.

– Current regulations allow us to take private groups only, with a maximum of 5pers accompanying each Instructor or Guide.

– Social distancing will be practiced and we ask our guests to wear a face mask at the agreed meeting point.

– Participants must come kitted out with appropriate ski touring or splitboard equipment.  Please enquire if you require assistance or advice in regard to equipment rental, we’re very happy to help.

– A precise meeting time and place will be decided by your allocated Instructor or Guide in light of snow and weather conditions.  This information will be communicated to you the evening prior to your outing.

GUIDED SNOWSHOEING

Get to know the region’s most scenic snowshoe trails under the professional guidance of one of ZigZag’s certified, English speaking Guides.  Snowshoes and poles provided, transport available upon demand.

Half day:  1-2pers 160€  +20€ per additional participant (max 5 per Guide)

Full day:  1-2pers 300€  +40€ per additional participant (max 5 per Guide)

NORDIC SKIING

Private cross-country skiing lessons tailored to your requirements.  Classic or skating technique.  Maximum group size is currently restricted to 5 people.

1hr:           1-2 pers 60€                  +15€ per additional participant

2hrs:         2pers 110€                  +15€ per additional participant

ICE CLIMBING

Ice climbing is an exciting and awe-inspiring winter activity that appeals to adventurous spirits in search of a new high.  Open to anyone from 15 years of age, with or without previous experience, ice climbing is like rock climbing with winter equipment including crampons and ice axes.

CAVING

Explore a fascinating underground world of subterranean caves and tunnels !

A guided tour through an underground labyrinth will open your eyes to a whole new world hidden right under your feet.

With all equipment provided, your expert guide will show you safely through a maze of natural tunnels and vast open chambers, mixing in a bit of gentle climbing with some fun abseils and toboggans.

Rest assured, no tight passages are obligatory.

PARAGLIDING

A once-in-a-lifetime experience, not to be missed !

Experience Samoëns from an entirely new angle, secured safely in tandem with your own professional pilot.

No experience is necessary, your pilot speaks English and will take care of it all while you sit back and enjoy the total liberty of free flight.
With magnificent views in all directions, you’ll be on a high for days afterwards !

Rest assured, there’s no jumping from a cliff involved (phew!). Parapenting simply entails running down a gently sloping alpine pasture
until your feet are no longer touching the ground. The experience is entirely relaxing, while utterly stimulating.

General health measures recommended by the French government in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic will be applied at all times by the ZigZag team.  Our professionals and guests are encouraged to practise regular hand washing and use sanitising gel, to cough or sneeze into a handkerchief o  r elbow, to blow their nose into a disposable tissue and discard, to wear a face mask when a 1m social distance cannot be respected and in all places where it is compulsory, and to greet without shaking hands.
