Your Ski Level

Beginner (nursery slopes / green pistes)

Skiers new to the sport learn the fundamentals, starting with putting their skis on and balance exercises on the flat.  The aim is to develop turning and stopping skills in order to progress quickly out of the beginner’s area.

Crystal (1 – 2 weeks’ experience, green and easy blue runs)

More experienced than those in the Beginner’s class, Cristal skiers have a week or two's skiing experience and can snowplough, stop, and turn with control on green and easy blue runs.  They can control their speed and are able to take button and chair lifts on their own.

Bronze Crystal (1 - 3 weeks’ experience, green and blue runs)

Skiers in the Bronze group can already ski blue runs with ease, and know how to side-slip. They can control their balance on slightly bumpy slopes and are starting to ski parallel, though not all the time.

Silver Crystal (3 – 6 weeks’ skiing experience, blue and easy red runs)

At the start of the week, Silver skiers can already do parallel, linked turns on smooth and bumpy pistes, and their turns are neatly finished in a side-slip.  They no longer resort to snowplough, even on bumpy or steep terrain.

Vermilion Crystal (4 - 9 weeks’ skiing experience, all blue and red runs)

Skiers in the Vermeil group can do short and medium linked turns with total control, and can easily stop with their skis parallel whenever they want to.  They are ready to start learning to carve.

Gold Crystal (6 – 10 weeks’ experience, red and black runs)

Gold skiers are already comfortable on bumps and on all red runs, and can manage short, carved turns. They will be learning to link short and long turns at an even and balanced pace, and to master ungroomed terrain.

Diamond Crystal (10 – 14 weeks’ skiing experience or more)

Diamond skiers are confident and in control on all kinds of slopes, with expert turns and speed control, and no fear of bumps. This class will help take their confidence and technique to the next level, both on and off piste.

Perfect for experienced teenagers looking for fun and a new challenge.  This is the start of adventure skiing, with lessons on racing techniques, moguls, off piste and the beginnings of freestyle.  Participants must be confident, experienced skiers to take part, and must be willing to follow instructions as they will encounter more risky terrain.  If conditions are right, they'll start to learn powder skiing and be taught about avalanche awareness.  Whatever the weather, teenagers will focus on perfecting their ski technique for ultimate control on all terrains.
