Serious about safety

At ZigZag we take your safety very seriously and so we’ve heavily invested in avalanche safety equipment for our guests right since the beginning.  For every person who goes off-piste with a ZigZag professional instructor or guide, we provide a full off-piste security kit, including:

  • ARVA “Axis” brand DVA (Detector de Victim d’Avalanche) avalanche beacon*
  • ARVA brand backpack
  • lightweight ARVA brand snow shovel
  • lightweight ARVA brand rapid-assemble probe

We work in partnership with ARVA in order to guarantee that our equipment is not just top-of-the-line, but fully and regularly serviced and updated.   So as to constantly refresh our stock of equipment, we sell our current off-piste safety packs at professional rates, so that we can continue to turn over our stock.  It means that when you’re off-piste with a ZigZag instructor or guide, you know you’ve got the best equipment possible, in the best condition possible.

We also have 6 ABS (Air Bag System) backpacks for our instructors and guides to use, so they can stay safe in order to be able to keep you safe.  For small groups doing extreme off-piste skiing, we are very pleased to be one of the few ski schools equipped to be able to lend ABS bags to our guests.

We also rent our equipment out on a daily basis, should you wish to ski or snowboard off-piste without one of our professionals present.

  • ARVA + probe + shovel = 15€/day  (ID + 300€ caution required)
  • ABS airbag system = 50€/day  (ID + 700€ caution required)
